LOUISIANA

The Rigby Group CPAs, Consultants and Advisors, New Orleans, has hired Mona Wade as senior manager of the firm’s tax and accounting practice. She brings more than 15 years of financial management and supervisory experience to the position, most recently serving as senior tax manager at Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLP, of Destin, Fla.

Howard Weiner, audit partner of Holtz Rubenstein & Co. LLP, Melville, has been elected president of DFK/USA, the American arm of DFK International, a worldwide association of independent firms. Weiner has put in almost 20 years of service to DFK. In addition, Anthony Romano, director of Holtz Rubenstein Technology Services, has been named chairman of DFK/USA’s Technology Committee. ... Fagliarone Group CPAs, Syracuse, announced that Michele A. Dickey, a tax manager with the firm, has been elected assistant treasurer of the board of directors of Meals on Wheels of Syracuse, a nonprofit that delivers meals to the homebound throughout the area. In addition, the firm announced that marketing communications director Cristina J. Hatem was named one of the 2002 Central New York 40 under 40. VIRGINIA

Wanda A. Wallace, the John N. Dalton Professor of Business Administration at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, was awarded the Association of Government Accountants’ 2002 Cornelius Tierney/Ernst & Young Research Award, in recognition of her "outstanding research accomplishments" over her career, and her "dedicated service to the profession." ... Michael T. Umscheid, of Witt, Mares & Co., Newport News, has been appointed to serve on the American Institute of CPAs’ Auditing Standards Board. Umscheid is partner-in-charge of Witt, Mares’ financial institutions services team, and has been providing consulting and auditing services to financial institutions for over 18 years.
