Wayne Pinnell, managing partner of Irvine-based Haskell & White LLP, was presented with one of California State University, Fullerton Irvine Campus’ Outstanding Teacher Awards at its recent inaugural Faculty Recognition Event. Kenneth Ames, a tax advisory partner with White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP, has received a National Service to Youth Award from the California Boys & Girls Club of America for his 10 years of service on the Carlsbad Club’s Board of Directors. In conjunction with the award, he received a Certificate of Recognition from the City of Carlsbad. Ames has been a member of the staff of White Nelson Diehl Evans for 11 years, working out of the firm’s Carlsbad and Escondido offices. His area of expertise is tax consulting, compliance and litigation support services for entities of all types. He has also presented seminars and authored various articles on retirement plans, tax planning and marital dissolutions.

Alison Fetzer, who leads and supervises audit engagements at Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams Ltd, has been reappointed to serve on the not-for-profit committee of the Illinois CPA Society. Carol Kone was named regional associate director and leader of the Chicago regional office of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
Dr. Steve Lim has been appointed to the IFRS Advisory Council. Dr Lim is an advisor to the Korea Accounting Standards Board having previously served as chair and vice-chair of the KASB and vice-chair of the Asian-Oceania Standard-Setters Group. Consulting magazine has named KPMG LLP advisory director Keaton Miller and managing director Olli Valikangas winners of the magazine's inaugural "Rising Stars of the Profession Awards." Both were featured in the March issue of Consulting along with a select group of other talented and accomplished consultants under the age of 35 who have distinguished themselves as young leaders in the profession.. Cristiano has nearly 20 years of experience in financial and operational due diligence, enterprise valuation, quality of earnings analyses, financial modeling and forecasting, financial reporting and internal controls review. He has built detailed valuation models for many companies, with a focus on underlying free cash flow, and has evaluated and advised on capital restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, merger integrations, stock offerings and industry and benchmarking analyses.

Simonetti Distinguished Business Alumni Award, which was presented by the University of Akron College of Business Administration. Michael Solender has taken on the role of Global Vice Chair and General Counsel at EY, where he will carry out the global reorganization of the EY legal function and integrate EY’s internal legal operations worldwide. He will be based in New York but will spend significant amount of time with the executive team in London. Solender will be succeeded as General Counsel of Ernst & Young LLP US by Ron Hauben.
Derrick Sturisky has joined Cherry Bekaert LLP as a principal in the Risk Advisory Group. Jarett Decker, deputy director and chief trial counsel in the Division of Enforcement and Investigations at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, will leave the PCAOB in May to take a position with the Centre for Financial Reporting Reform of the World Bank in Vienna, Austria.
Mike Herold has joined the State and Local Tax Practice of Wipfli LLP as director. Prior to joining Wipfli, Herold was a principal at a national accounting firm where he was responsible for assisting clients in multi-state tax planning and audit defense, for firm wide training in state and local taxes, and for developing state tax strategies to advance the firm’s vision. Herold holds a juris doctorate degree from Hamline University, and a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and communication from Concordia University.
