MICHIGAN

Ryan Bryker has been promoted to associate from staff member at Plante Moran PLLC, Grand Rapids. He specializes in business taxation, primarily in manufacturing and distribution industries, in the firm’s Tax Department. Bryker, who joined Plante Moran in 2011, has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Anthony Israels has been promoted to state and local tax manager. He previously served as a tax in-charge with the firm. He specializes in income, franchise, sales, use, property and Michigan corporate business tax consulting, in addition to providing taxpayer representation in state voluntary disclosure negotiations, tax audit and controversy proceedings. Israels, who joined Plante Moran in 2010, has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Grand Valley State University. He is a member of the AICPA, the MACPA and its State and Local Taskforce. Tim VanWingerden has been promoted to associate after working as an assurance staff member with the firm. He specializes in manufacturing, distribution and financial institutions in the firm’s Audit Department. VanWingerden, who joined Plante Moran in 2008, has a bachelor’s degree in public accountancy from Calvin College. He is a committee member for Central Grand Rapids Young Life. Paul Weis has been promoted to manager. He previously served as a valuation analyst and staff member with the firm. Weis provides valuation services to privately held and public entities for a wide variety of purposes including management planning, gift and estate tax, healthcare compliance, marital dissolution and purchase and sale advisement in the firm’s Forensic and Valuation Services Department.  He has completed numerous healthcare valuation projects for hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices and other specialty clinics. Weis, who joined Plante Moran in 2008, has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from GVSU and is a member of the American Society of Appraisers, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the GVSU Finance Alumni Association.

NORTH CAROLINA

Trey Ackerman has been named the office managing partner for Dixon Hughes Goodman’s Uptown Charlotte office, located in the Hearst Tower. Matt Snow will continue his role as regional managing partner of the firm’s Charlotte region and will oversee its South Park office location.

OHIO

Sarah Dmytryk has joined SS&G, Columbus, as a tax manager in the tax department. Prior to joining SS&G, she worked as a tax manager for Ary Roepcke Mulchaey. Dmytryk earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from The Ohio State University. Sam Slonaker joins as an associate in the tax department in the firm’s Cincinnati office. He joined SS&G from Essex and Associates as a tax accountant. Slonaker earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio University. Marc Rabinovich joined the Cleveland office as an associate in the tax department. Prior to SS&G, Rabinovich worked as a senior tax consultant for Deloitte & Touche. He earned a Master of Science in accounting and Bachelor of Science in business administration from The Ohio State University. PENNSYLVANIA

James Cassel has joined Reinsel Kuntz Lesher, Lancaster, as partner in the firm’s audit services. He will lead client engagement teams, coordinating and reviewing audit and accounting services and consultation on complex accounting and reporting matters. Prior to RKL, Cassel worked at ParenteBeard. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

TEXAS

Bradley Porter has been promoted to senior manager at UHY LLP in the firm’s Dallas Audit Practice. As senior manager, Porter will be responsible for audit engagements, related attest services and due diligence procedures for public and private companies in industries including real estate, private equity, manufacturing, hospitality, health care, sports and entertainment holdings. He also is involved with public filings and other SEC communications. Porter joined UHY LLP in 2010 from Grant Thornton. Kathryn O'Brien has joined PwC US as a principal in the firm’s Transfer Pricing practice, in Washington, D.C. She was previously with General Electric, working as its global transfer pricing leader for more than six years. Prior to General Electric, she was with Ernst & Young and earlier with the IRS's Office of Associate Chief Counsel (International), where she worked as the Acting Director and team leader in the APA program. O’Brien received her BA in Finance from Michigan State University, JD from George Washington University National Law Center and an LLM (Taxation) from Georgetown University. … Susan Brooke has joined the Center for Audit Quality as a professional practice Fellow.
