ALABAMA

Warren Averett LLC’s member, Greg Sellers, has been elected to the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants’ board of directors for a two-year term beginning on July 1, 2014. The ASCPA is the statewide, professional membership organization representing over 6,700 Alabama CPAs in public practice, industry, government and education.

FLORIDA

Steve Brettholtz, president and shareholder of Myers, Brettholtz & Company, PA, Certified Public Accountants & Business Consultants, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Southwest Florida Symphony. … Warren Averett LLC’s member, Kathleen Baldwin, has been elected to the Executive Committee for the Construction Industry CPAs/Consultants Association. CICPAC is a national association of CPA firms recognized in their respective markets for providing high quality financial and consulting services to over 7,500 construction entities. Baldwin previously served as Chairman of the Education Committee and will continue to maintain this role, while also serving on the Executive Committee.

GEORGIA

Nadine Adams has been promoted to manager in the tax department of Porter Keadle Moore in Atlanta. In the firm’s audit department John Erwin and Kristina Lischke moved up to managers, while Carson Hill and Matthew Shoemaker were promoted to seniors.

LOUISIANA

The American Institute of CPAs has honored Dr. Dan Deines, CPA, Ralph Crouch / KPMG Professor of Accounting at Kansas State University, as a winner of the Special Recognition Award. The AICPA’s Special Recognition Award is given to an individual who has contributed to the success of a particular professional initiative - contributions of an outstanding nature.

MASSACHUSETTS

Reid Butler has joined Baker Newman Noyes as a senior in the audit practice in the firm’s Portsmouth office. Butler earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Hampshire. Butler comes to BNN after three years at another accounting firm in New Hampshire and specializes in serving healthcare and not-for-profit organizations. There were also several promotions throughout the firm including: Amanda McEneaney who was promoted to manager in the audit practice in the firm’s Boston office. Jessica Bouchard was promoted to manager in the audit practice in the firm’s Manchester office. Emily Antonico was promoted to senior in the risk and business advisory practice in the firm’s Manchester office. Nora Antonio was promoted to senior in the audit department in the firm’s Portland office. Jacob Day was promoted to senior in the audit practice in the firm’s Portland office. Douglas DeLara was promoted to senior in the audit practice in the firm’s Manchester office. Brooke Freeman was promoted to senior in the audit practice in the firm’s Portland office. William Mitchell was promoted to senior in the audit practice in the firm’s Manchester office and Marrissa Piro was promoted to senior in the audit practice in the firm’s Manchester office.

NEW YORK

Vin Batra has been named managing director at Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC in the New York office. Prior Deloitte, Batra was a managing director at Alvarez & Marsal Securities LLC, where he spent eight years in the Corporate Finance Group. He was also previously an investment banker at Lehman Brothers for five years. He began his career at Arthur Andersen. … PwC US has hired Seth Rosensweig as a principal in the firm’s Risk Assurance practice to support its growing Advanced Risk & Compliance Analytics service line. Rosensweig will work closely with John Sabatini, a principal in PwC’s Risk Assurance practice who leads ARCA, to provide data analytics services that help clients strengthen their risk and regulatory compliance functions.

NORTH CAROLINA

Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co. LLP’s partner, Dana Beeson, has been elected president of the Greensboro Estate Planning Council. The Greensboro Estate Planning Council, Inc. is an interdisciplinary organization for professionals involved in estate planning. Since its inception, the Council's primary objective has been to provide a better understanding of the services performed by attorneys, life underwriters, trust officers, accountants, and others substantially involved in estate planning and to promote cooperation.

OREGON

Zoe Zhou has been promoted from tax senior to tax manager at Kernutt Stokes. Jana Michel moved from associate to senior associate and Talya Horowitz from staff associate to senior associate. Zhou began her career at the firm in 2008. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Professional Accounting. Zhou is a member of the AICPA and the OSCPA. In addition, she is the secretary of the Eugene-Springfield Tax Association board.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Patrice Sebastian has been promoted to director in the Forensics and Valuation Services Group of WebsterRogers. Sebastian specializes in providing litigation support, business valuation, and business exit planning services to clients in a variety of industries throughout the state of South Carolina. Sebastian joined WebsterRogers in 2000 and is a graduate of the College of Charleston with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration and Francis Marion University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
