Esa Tihilä, CEO of Basware, the provider of e-invoicing and purchase-to-pay solutions, has been named as co-chair of the European E-Invoicing Service Providers Association. He will co-chair the association with Charles Bryant, European Affairs Advisor at OB10.
The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, responsible for the governance and oversight of the International Accounting Standards Board, appointed 14 new members of the IFRS Advisory Council. The new members include: Peter Chambers, Micheline Dionne, Egbert Eeftink, Stephenie Fox, Dr. Jens Freiberg, Jake Green, Markus Grund, John Hitchins, Igor Kozyrev, Goro Kumagai, Danita Ostling, Lynda Sullivan, Stephen Taylor and Dr. Lothar Weniger. IFRS Foundation also appointed Maria Helena Santana and Lynn Wood to serve as Trustees of the IFRS Foundation.
Jason Powell has joined Gumbiner Savett Inc., as the director of international tax in Santa Monica. Carl Saba has joined Hemming Morse LLP, San Francisco, as a partner and Brian Zacharias joined as a principal in the Financial and Forensic Consulting Service Group. Saba and Zacharias join the firm from Burr Pilger Mayer Inc., where Saba was a shareholder and led the consulting practice, and Zacharias was a senior manager. Michael Savoy, a managing director of Santa Monica-based Gumbiner Savett Inc., has been elected president of the California Board of Accountancy for 2014.
The Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation appointed 10 new members to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council. New members include: John Boulton, Dan Mahoney, Daniel Meader, Xihao Hu, Marsha Hunt, Cathy Engelbert, Larry Gray, Wendy Hambleton, Colleen Conrad and Jeff Wilks. The Board of Trustees of the FAF also appointed six new members to the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council. New members include: Sandra Moorman, Daniel Smith, Barbara Flickinger, Leelan Miller, Robert Schultze and Stephen Klein.
David Colorato and Abigail Cuccia have joined Myers, Brettholtz & Co., Fort Myers, as auditors. Christine Sheehan relocated from the firm’s Chicago office to its Fort Meyers location. Bill Tapp, senior managing director of CBIZ Kirkland, Russ, Murphy & Tapp, was recently presented with the Chester James Award, by David Jezek, President/CEO, YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg. Meanwhile, Christoper Nix has joined the firm as an assurance senior associate in the firm’s Tampa Bay office. Peter Klipa joined the firm as a manager in its assurance department also in the Tampa Bay office. Shane Burda joined as an assurance senior associate. Cindy Baker and Ellen Thornton have been promoted to partners at Cross, Fernandez & Riley LLP. Baker will serve as an assurance partner and Thornton will serve as a tax partner. Both will work in the firm’s Winter Haven location.
Lana Yelina has joined Moore Colson, Atlanta, as a business assurance senior associate. Jackie Fitzgerald and Ada Ding joined the firm as business assurance senior associates and Scott Oliver joined as a tax associate. Don Bryant has joined the firm as a senior manager in its business assurance practice.
Andy Bosman has joined McGladrey LLP, Chicago, as the firm’s national marketing and sales leader.
Renae Hatcher has joined Blue & Co. LLC, as an administrative assistant in its Carmel office. Michael Mucci joined as a manager.
Jennifer Chapman, a para-professional at Lewis, Hooper & Dick LLC, Garden City, has obtained her QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.
Carole Barker has joined BerryDunn as a senior consultant. Michele Staples joined the firm as a manager. Baker and Staples will both work in the firm’s health care/not-for-profit group in the Portland office. Philip Huntley joins the firm as a consultant in the firm’s Government Consulting Group. Shareen Palmacci joined the firm as a staff accountant in the Bangor office. Dave Erb, a principal in the firm was promoted to practice group leader of BerryDunn’s Tax Consulting and Compliance Group.
Renee Bishop, also a principal, has been promoted to practice group leader of the firm’s heath care and not-for-profit group. Baker Newman Noyes recently announced that Gina Hobert has joined Baker Newman, Portland, as a senior manager in the healthcare consulting practice, adding expertise to the healthcare team in the areas of medical coding and billing education, chart auditing and billing compliance. Prior to joining Baker Newman Noyes, Hobert managed the billing compliance and medical audit functions for a major New England hospital system. She also served as the director of a coding center, which provided chart auditing services, on-site coding education programs and coding certification courses.
Patricia Kirchner and Travis Klein were promoted to seniors in the tax department of Ellin & Tucker in Baltimore. Nancy Kopp, the Maryland State Treasurer, has been appointed to the Financial Accounting Foundation Board of Trustees.

Matthew Bryant and Diana Mitchell have joined Maner Costerisan as a staff accountant and tax manager, respectively. Yvonne Thumser has joined the professional staff of Maner Costerisan in Lansing.
Scott Brandt, audit manager at Brown Smith Wallace, recently earned certification as a Construction Industry Financial Professional. Brandt is the first CCIFP at Brown Smith Wallace, and one of only 15 in Missouri. Katelyn Bass, Gavin Dearduff, Brandon Hanlon, Derek Hinrichs and Jennifer Maracek were promoted to seniors at Mueller Prost, St. Louis. Adam Hill and Joel Hundelt were promoted to supervisors; Justin Koebel and Caty Schaberg moved up to manager; Stacy Campbell, Karyn Nunn, Terry Richars and Chris Volz were promoted to senior managers and Rich Wile to chief engineer. Beth Van Leeuwen has joined MarksNelson, Kansas City, as a manager, Elizabeth Wilmarth joined as a supervisor and Malissa Sartain joined the firm as a senior accountant. In addition, Russell Brown, Catherine Higdon and Theo Zecy were hired as staff accountants. Kathleen Lusk and Collin Koenig have joined the firm. Lusk joins as a sales and use tax director in the firm’s SALT department and Koenig joined as a staff accountant. . Amy Hoppenrath has joined MarksNelson, Kansas City, as the firm’s marketing director. She recently owned and managed her own marketing and business development firm which specialized in professional services. Amy Altholz, a partner at RubinBrown, recently was honored as one of the 2013 Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants Women to Watch.

Nina Sorelle, a partner at Bowman & Co. LLP, Voorhees, has been recognized by the Garden State Council of the Boys Scouts of America as an Outstanding Woman in Business. Sorelle has more than 25 years of accounting and auditing experience in the accounting profession. She also performs peer reviews for other firms and is a certified fraud examiner. Sorelle earned her B.S. degree Summa Cum Laude in Accounting from Glassboro State College.
Tobias Lee, chief marketing officer for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, was recognized by the National Association of Asian American Professionals with its 2013 Leader of Excellence Award for the Dallas chapter. Michael Monahan has rejoined Grant Thornton LLP as assistant managing principal for people, culture and community of the Metro New York Cluster and principal-in-charge of the Northeast region Compensation and Benefits Consulting practice. He went back to the firm after serving 18 months as senior vice president, chief administrative officer for the New York Blood Center. Jeffrey Wexler has joined The Bonadio Group, Rochester, as partner. Robert Young has been named managing director of Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC, New York.

Five LBMC partners were named Power Leaders in the accounting profession by The Nashville Business Journal. LBMC Tax partner, Jeff Drummonds, LBMC Accounting and Assurance Services partner, John Mark McDougal, LBMC Healthcare Practice leader Greg Eli with co-managing partners Mike Cain and David Morgan were among the Top 10’ accountants who were considered leaders in their area. Becky Murphy has joined the firm as a senior manager in the tax department. She previously worked as a tax senior manager for Joseph Decosimo & Company PLLC and is experienced with private companies, wealth management, manufacturing and distribution. Elaine Clark has joined Decosimo’s health care services practice as a business development executive.
Rance Buss has joined Weaver as the partner-in-charge of employee benefit plan services, in the firm’s Houston office. Jeffrey Harfenist has joined BDO as a managing director in the Houston office. Mona Fathinejad has joined Karlins, Ramey & Tompkins as a staff accountant.
John Ams, the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the National Society of Accountants, has been appointed chair of the Office of Professional Responsibility Subgroup of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council.

David Bohn has joined Tate & Tryon as a senior manager in the firm’s outsourced services practice. Prior to Tate & Tryon, Bohn was the vice president, finance and accounting outsourcing at EXL. The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced that Chief Administrative Officer Darrell Pauley is retiring from the PCAOB, effective Dec. 31, 2013. The PCAOB has tapped Suzanne Kinzer, former Deputy Director for Operations in the Division of Registration and Inspections, as Chief Administrative Officer, effective Jan. 1, 2014.
