Decosimo has promoted Owen McLaughlin to senior accountant in the firm’s Cayman Island office.
Gerd Franke, William Dickinson and Michael DeLuca MBA have been accepted by the Internal Revenue Service as Certifying Acceptance Agents. Franke, a principal and Dickinson, a manager, works in the Naples office, while DeLuca works predominantly out of the Fort Myers office of the firm as a manager. Bibi Sipra, a tax intern at CBIZ MHM in Tampa Bay, is currently pursuing a Bachelors in Accounting and Management degree and is expected to graduate in August 2014. Second term tax interns Heisy Kamsler and Renee Allison Campbell received their Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Florida. Tax interns Mariana Abuaita, Jessica Ann Lyles and Justin Agius received their Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Florida.
Jenniger Shin has been promoted to audit manager at Hood & Strong LLP in the firm’s San Francisco audit department. Jacob Yau has been promoted to tax manager in the firm’s tax department. Jing Liao has joined HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors as a tax accountant in the Tustin office. White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP, Irvine, held its inaugural WNDE Cowboy Friday in January. Thirty-three WNDE staff members dressed for the day in Western attire. All participants received a $10 Starbucks card; the top male and female winner, Joshua Carranco and Tiffany Fung, received $100 cash. Partner Thomas Kretschmar personally sponsored the event as a morale builder; it will return again next January. Theresa Brown, Ricardo Martinez and Jeremy Sucharski has joined Armanino LLP as partners in its San Ramon office.
Paul Roth has joined Blue & Co. LLC, Carmel, as a senior manager in its SALT division. Ann Waren has joined the firm as a benefits specialist. Teri Jackson joined the firm’s Columbus office as an administrative assistant. In the Indianapolis office, Melody Vinyard joined the firm as a an administrative assistant.
Scott Owens has joined Blue & Co. LLC, Louisville, as a senior manager. Ryan Wells joined the firm as a staff accountant.
Mark Breakfield has joined RubinBrown as a manager in the firm’s Wealth Management Services Group in St. Louis. Britt Booker and Kelli Holland have joined Abeles and Hoffman PC. Booker joins as a tax accountant and Holland as a staff accountant.
Richard Bloom has joined WeiserMazars LLP as a partner in its Edison, NJ office. Bloom will work in the firm’s Private Client Services and Tax Practices.
Ilene Mak and Candace Quinn have joined WeiserMazars LLP as partners in its tax office in NYC. Christopher James Manico has joined LCS&Z LLP, Latham, as a staff accountant. He joins the firm after completing a year of internship at General Electric Co. He’s a 2012 graduate from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. Leslie Nielson has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a managing director in the firm’s New York office where she will lead the Global Human Resources Tax practice.
Meg Smith has joined BCG Systems Inc. as an IT Systems intern where she’ll be responsible for server backups and IT help desk support. Smith is currently attending The University of Akron where she is working toward a degree in computer information system and Cisco Networking. Jonas Russell has been promoted to senior accountant in Decosimo’s Cincinnati office.
Decosimo has made several promotions throughout the firm. In its Chattanooga office, Shelton Swafford Chambers and Sarah Denton were moved up to tax managers and Kimberly Johnson was promoted to senior accountant. Matt Wallace was promoted to senior accountant in the firm’s Nashville office and Lauren Moore is now a senior accountant in the firm’s Memphis office.
Hanh Duong and Daniel Travis were promoted to tax senior managers at Pannell Kerr Forster of Texas in the Houston office.
Margueritte Britton and Ed Cole, two veteran international tax strategists have joined the international tax team at Piascik’s Richmond-based firm. Britton, who joined the firm as an expatriate tax manager and Cole, who joins as an international senior tax manager will be responsible for helping the firm’s international tax partner-in-charge, Ryan Losi, to lead both the corporate cross-border and individual expatriate tax practices.
The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, responsible for the governance and oversight of the International Accounting Standards Board has reappointed Amaro Gomes (South America) and Pat Finnegan (North America) to serve second five-year terms as members of the IASB. Gomes is a former senior official of the Central Bank of Brazil, while Finnegan previously served as Director of the Financial Reporting Policy Group at the CFA Institute Center for Financial Market Integrity. Michael Maloney has been named the new chief accountant in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement. Maloney joins the SEC enforcement staff from Navigant Consulting Inc., where he is a managing director and oversees the firm’s forensic accounting practice. He has led teams conducting complex forensic investigations in high-profile accounting, securities, and other fraud matters. Maloney has more than 25 years of experience advising on financial accounting and reporting, including GAAP, GAAS, and SEC filings. He is a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner, and he holds a certification in financial forensics.
