He succeeds Alex Lemos. … CalCPA recognizes Stephen Tierney for helping homeless achieve success. Tierney, a partner at Nienow & Tierney, has received the 2014 Public Service Award from the California Society of CPAs. In addition, he is a co-founder and current president of Up and Running Again, a nonprofit that helps people overcome poverty. The organization trains homeless individuals to run a half marathon. The runners can then apply the goal-setting skills developed through the training process to other aspects of their lives.


The Financial Accounting Foundation appointed Washington State investment official Gary Bruebaker to the FAF Board of Trustees. Bruebaker is currently the chief investment officer for the Washington State Investment Board in Olympia, Washington.

Kimberly McKay, a partner at BKD LLP, has been named the new managing partner of the firm’s Houston office. McKay will transition during the next year to take over for managing partner Dave Hayob, who is preparing for retirement in May 2015 after more than 35 years with the firm.
