Kenneth Leventhal died on May 8 at age 91. He founded Kenneth Leventhal & Co. in 1949, and grew it to be the ninth largest CPA firm in the country in 1995, when it merged into Ernst & Young. ... Joseph Passarello has been named CFO and senior vice president of finance of Serena Software, Redwood City.

 

COLORADO

Brad Ross has been named transaction services partner and leader at Hein & Associates, Denver. In addition, Michael Dooley, Jeremy King and Todd Lindley have joined the firm's NetSuite implementation services team as managers.

 

GEORGIA

Sydney Trew, a tax associate as Moore Colson CPAs, has received the firm's quarterly Peak Award, which recognizes employees who make a significant contribution to the firm. Trew was recognized going above and beyond during tax season.

 

ILLINOIS

Steve Perkins has been named national managing director of the technology industry practice of Grant Thornton LLP.

 

MICHIGAN

Jason Marvin, a partner at Plante Moran PLLC, Grand Rapids, has been inducted into the Grand Valley State University Accounting Hall of Fame, which recognizes accounting alumni who have excelled in their profession.

Gail Kinsella, a partner at Testone, Marshall & Discenza LLP, Syracuse, has been installed as president of the New York State Society of CPAs. ... Gary Carpenter, has joined Grassi & Co., Jericho, as a partner, while Al Conti has joined the firm as a manager.

 

TENNESSEE

John W. Johnson will join the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, Nashville, as director of legislative affairs on June 1.

 

WISCONSIN

Valuation Research Corp., Milwaukee, announced a number of promotions: Caroline M. Puiggali has been promoted to senior vice president in the San Francisco office; Mark Zoladz to senior vice president in the Boston office; Jerry Coyne and Shane L. Newell to vice president in the Princeton office; and Chad C. Myers to vice president in the Cincinnati office.
