Chicago-based Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams Ltd’s co-founder Allen M. Abrams passed away on Oct. 27, 2013 after a brief illness. He was 81. Abramswas born in Paw Paw, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan, earning both a B.S., magna cum laude, in Accounting, and an M.B.A., summa cum laude. The Illinois CPA Society has honored four of its members with their 9th annual prestigious Women to Watch awards. Dawn Eber, managing director of PwC’s risk assurance practice, and Charlotte Montgomery, a CPA and Director of Resource Allocation at the Illinois State Museum, won the experienced leader award. Melissa Bennis and Meredith Vogel picked up the emerging leader award. John Kurkowski has been named office managing partner of the Chicago and Oak Brook offices of Crowe Horwath LLP. Stuart Miller was appointed as the local geographic leader for the Chicago and Oak Brook general audit practice. Linda Imonti, an advisory partner at KPMG LLP, has been named one of Consulting magazine's top Women Leaders in Consulting for 2013. Tracy Harding, a director of quality assurance and principal-in-charge at Bangor office of BerryDunn, has been named to the Regulatory Response Committee of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Harding’s appointment is effective as of November 1, 2013.
