CALIFORNIA

Tayiika M. Dennis, a partner at NSBN LLP, Beverly Hills, was elected president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Society of CPAs for 2015-16. … Susan Barry has joined Gallina LLP, Roseville, as human resources director. … Cathy Elchinoff and Hai Tang have been promoted to managing director at Andersen Tax in the San Francisco office, while David Bollis has been promoted to managing director in the Houston office, and Tim Wylie to managing director in the Los Angeles office.

 

COLORADO

EKS&H LLP, Denver, has promoted eight people to partner: Jeff Belair, Kelly Blaha, Jeff McPherson, Becky Potts, John Reeves, Mark Richards, Brian Rooney and Jeremy Wilson.

 

FLORIDA

HCT CPAs & Consultants LLC, Hollywood, announced a number of new hires: Ramona Sutton has joined the firm as executive administrator; Sophia Sinclair Miller as a supervising senior accountant; and Shakeidra Saunders as a staff accountant.

GEORGIA

Moore Colson, Atlanta, announced a number of promotions: Lana Yelina has been promoted to manager; and Mandy Yau, Samantha Scott, Jake Patton, Natalie Jett, Kristi Smith and Jackie Fitzgerald to senior associate.

 

MAINE

Baker Newman Noyes announced a number of new hires in its Portland office: Sierra Leonard, Kelly Morris, Marcus Pratt, Katie Tracy, Sonya Walker and Sarah Warner have joined the firm as staff members, while Jay Norris has joined the firm as a senior in the risk and business advisory practice, and Tyler Stephens as an intern.

 

MARYLAND

The Maryland Association of CPAs named its “Women to Watch” for 2015 in conjunction with the American Institute of CPAs: Michelle Chopper of Arthur Bell and Jennifer Milas of McLean, Koehler, Sparks and Hammond were named Emerging Leaders, while Jan Williams of the University of Baltimore and speaker and business coach Jennifer Elder were named Experienced Leaders. Other nominees in the Emerging Leader category included Jennifer Amato, Jodi Blair, Donna Defino, Sharon Gubinsky, Kayla Kania, Elizabeth Long, Edie Manney, Tysheba Morgan, Rachel Ndungu, Teri Overington, Joye Sistrunk, Amanda Wilhelm and Nicole Yost. Other nominees in the Experienced Leader category were Christine Aspell, Leara Dory, Chimere DeVane, Tricia Griffis, Andrea Hartman, Betsy Johnson, Sylvia Lagerquist, Marilyn Schneider and Karen Syrylo. MACPA also recognized “Men Who Get It,” honoring a local businessman who mentors and sponsors women via career development and champions the cause for diversity; the inaugural winner of the “Men Who Get It” Award was Brian Israel of Dixon Hughes Goodman. Other nominees were Mark Cissell, Edward Karl, Dalton Tong and Steve Wolf.

 

MASSACHUSETTS

Baker Newman Noyes announced a number of new hires in its Boston office: Kaitlene D’Amico, Micayla Goodrow, Trevor Grace and Ross Harrington have joined the firm as staff members, and Iwona Pyskaty as a senior in the tax practice. … Dean A. Drummond has joined the Boston office of WithumSmith+Brown as a partner.

 

MICHIGAN

The Michigan Association of CPAs has elected its officers for 2015-16: Walsh College president Stephanie Bergeron will serve as chair of the board of directors; Betsy Meter as chair-elect; Alan Young as treasurer; and Robert Johnson as secretary. Ronald Edmonds, Lisa Howze and Stacie Kwaiser were also elected to the board.

 

MINNESOTA

Mike Metz has rejoined the Minneapolis tax office of BDO USA LLP as office managing partner, responsible for overseeing professionals and managing client and prospect relationships in BDO's Minneapolis tax practice.

 

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Matthew Good and Abby Lamothe have joined the Manchester office of Baker Newman Noyes as staff members.

 

NEW JERSEY

Klatzkin & Co. LLP, Hamilton, announced a number of promotions and new hires: Michelle Robb has been promoted to manager, and Ishaan Anand to senior accountant, while Robert Gaffney has joined the firm as a staff accountant, Crystal Garcia as marketing manager, and Kristi Rosenberg as a para-professional. … Darlene Grace has joined Bedford Tax Services, Hazlet, as a tax manager.

 

NEW YORK

OHIO

Annie Yoder, a principal with Rea & Associates Inc., New Philadelphia, has been named one of the 2015 Top 10 Public Accounting Professional Rising Stars in Ohio by the National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP announced a number of promotions and a new hire: In the Reading office, Steven Frank, Kelly Godfrey, Amy Strouse and Joshua Weiss have been promoted to manager, and Daniel Nickischer has joined the Small Business Services Group. In the York office, Josie Parr and Erica Schachle have been promoted to manager; and in the Lancaster office, Jonathan Clark, Ann Marie Davis, Lisa Enders and Andrew Rice have been promoted to manager.

 

SOUTH CAROLINA

Elliott Davis Decosimo, Greenville, has admitted four new shareholders: Jay Brietz, Howard Houston, Melissa Johnson and Jerry D. Lewis.

 

TEXAS

Matt Dover has been named partner-in-charge of tax services at CF Accountants & Consultants, Dallas. … Donna Mayes and Robert Simpson have been promoted from senior audit manager to partner at Rylander, Clay & Opitz LLP, Fort Worth.

 

UTAH

WSRP LLC, Salt Lake City announced the addition of 18 new professionals, including partners Randy Jensen, Scott Reams, James Hawkins, Scott Czaja, Kris Cox, and Tyler Curtis, and audit managers Nate Davis, Jeremy Jones and Brandon Keyes, as well as nine other audit professionals previously associated with Mr. Jensen's group.

 

VIRGINIA

Carol Mount, a tax manager at Halt, Buzas & Powell, Alexandria, will retire on Oct. 15, 2015, after 17 years with the firm. “Carol has been an outstanding team player over the past 17 years,” said partner Steve Halt. “She has been very well liked and respected by clients, staff and the partners at the firm. She will truly be missed by all of us at Halt, Buzas & Powell.”

 

WASHINGTON

Angela Woodward has joined Opsahl Dawson, Longview, as their first-ever senior manager. … Cameron Wiebe has joined PwC as a lead tax partner in the Seattle office.
