April Mackenzie will be joining the International Valuation Standards Council as chief operating officer. Mackenzie, Global Head of Governance and Public Policy, will leave Grant Thornton in 2014. In the interim period, Grant Thornton International Limited is sponsoring her into the senior executive role where she will be tasked with helping to steer and support the IVSC through an intense phase of growth. In taking on this role Mackenzie will step down from the IVSC Board of Trustees which she has served on since 2009.

Barbara Richardson, owner of SpringWell Financial Services which is based in Stockbridge, won the Certified Tax Coach of the Year Award which was presented by the American Institute of Certified Tax Coaches during its annual banquet. … Susan Wall has joined Moore Colson as a manager in the firm’s Atlanta office. Prior to Moore Colson, Wall worked at Workplace Spanish Inc, where she was the director of finance. The firm also hired Jared Miller and Kelly Hopkins as a business assurance associates, and Samantha Scott as a tax associate. … Lauren Oxley has been appointed as a consulting manager at UHY LLP, Atlanta, in the firm’s Management & Technology Consulting department, with a focus in Enterprise Optimization. … Bernie Palmer has joined BT Wealth Management, which is an affiliate of Bennett Thrasher in Atlanta, as managing director. Prior to joining BT Wealth, Palmer was the CFO for Tyler Perry Studios, where he advised senior management on personal financial and investment advisory matters and handled corporate financial obligations.

Steven Goluch has joined Weiss & Company LLP, Glenview, as a principal. Steve brings with him over 20 years of tax experience. He will focus on corporate, partnership and individual tax planning and compliance work. Goluch will provide expertise in federal, state and local income, sale and use and estate and gift areas. His industry experience includes manufacturing, construction, real estate, retail, wholesale, and professional services. Goluch received his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Arizona State University and his masters in Taxation from DePaul University. He’s a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society.

KENTUCKY

Bobby Huff has joined the Owensboro office of Riney Hancock CPAs PSC as a senior accountant in the Tax Services Division. Michael Fillman, who is a staff II accountant in the firm’s audit and assurance division, completed his CPA exam and experience requirements.

Keith Mueller has been named CEO of BookKeeping Express after serving on the board of the Tysons Corner-based franchise company since 2010. … David Trimner has joined CliftonLarsonAllen, Arlington, as a principal in the firm’s public sector tax practice. Prior to CliftonLarsonAllen, Trimmer worked as a tax partner at BDO.

Michael Plowgian has joined KPMG LLP as a principal in the firm’s Washington National Tax Practice, where he will assist the firm’s international tax practice and its corporate multinational clients.
