The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed James L. Kroeker as deputy chief accountant in the agency's Office of the Chief Accountant.Kroeker, 37, started work at the commission in mid-February, where he will be responsible for resolving accounting issues and rulemaking projects, as well as oversight of private sector accounting standards-setting efforts.
Since June 2002, Kroeker has served as a partner at Deloitte & Touche's National Office Accounting Services Group, providing consultation and support in the implementation and development of accounting standards. From August 1999 to June 2001, Kroeker served as a practice fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board. He first joined Deloitte's national office in 1997 as manager of the national office's Accounting Research Group.
Prior to joining Deloitte's national office, Kroeker was responsible for the audits of the financial statements of several large national and multinational public companies.
In November, the SEC announced that Scott Taub, the longest-serving of the commission's deputy chief accountants, would leave before the end of the year.
