Plante Moran Adds Joel Mitchell as Partner

Joel Mitchell is the newest partner at Plante Moran PLLC.

Mitchell will work in the firm’s Grand Rapids office, where he will focus on global tax compliance, financial reporting, repatriation planning and global structuring. 

Mitchell brings 13 years of corporate and firm experience to the Plante Moran. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a director of tax for X-Rite Inc., a global color science and technology company. Mitchell handled global tax compliance and financial reporting, sales and use tax compliance, transfer pricing, assisting with global cash management and related areas.

Mitchell also spent five years at BDO Seidman LLP, working in that firm’s Grand Rapids and Chicago offices, most recently as international tax senior director. He also served as international tax manager in the Grand Rapids office of Deloitte & Touche LLP and as an international tax associate in Detroit for Arthur Andersen LLP.

Mitchell is a former adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting.

He earned a bachelor of business administration degree and a master of accounting degree with distinction from the University of Michigan. Mitchell also holds a master of science in taxation from GVSU.
