Prager Metis CPAs LLC has merged in Geibelson, Young & Company, expanding the New York-based Top 100 Firm’s presence in California with a firm that caters to the entertainment industry, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
Geibelson Young is based in Woodland Hills, Calif. The deal was brokered by Domenick J. Esposito of Esposito CEO2CEO, LLC.
Prager Metis plans to retain Geibelson Young’s Woodland Hills office, expanding its presence in the Los Angeles area to three offices including El Segundo and West Los Angeles. As part of the deal, Melody Young will join Prager Metis as a principal in the Business Management Group. Sixteen other staff members are also joining Prager Metis from Geibelson Young. Prager Metis has 375 staff and 61 partners.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Prager Metis ranked 68th on Accounting Today’s 2017 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $60.77 million in annual revenue.
Geibelson Young specializes in providing business management services for entertainers, along with tax consultation and preparation for individuals and corporations in the entertainment, creative arts and other freelance industries.
“We’re excited that this merger enables us to serve our entertainment clients better in the Los Angeles market, as well as nationally and internationally, and for the Geibelson, Young clients, joining forces establishes a deeper breath of support and services,” stated Joseph Rust, managing partner of the Prager Metis office in Los Angeles.
“Bringing Melody and her team on board is essential to our plans to expand our resources and further strengthen our reputation as the “go-to” expert in entertainment business management,” said co-managing partner David Neste in a statement. “With her extensive background in the entertainment industry, Melody has a unique expertise that few possess.”
“Prager Metis has a strong presence in the entertainment industry and extensive experience in many other areas,” said Young. “The depth of their expertise in tour accounting, international tax law, and vast auditing capabilities will benefit my clients immensely.”
Last February, Prager Metis expanded its entertainment industry practice by merging in Stuart A. Ditsky CPA, PC, an accounting firm headquartered in New York with offices in Los Angeles and Connecticut that caters to the entertainment business.
