Prager Metis Merges in Cohen Greve & Company

Prager Metis CPAs LLC is expanding its presence on Long Island by merging in Cohen Greve & Company CPA P.C., effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Cohen Greve, based in Mineola, N.Y., will expand New York City-based Prager Metis’s footprint on Long Island, where the firm already has an office in Woodbury. In March, it added another Long Island firm, Mayer CPAs (see Prager Metis Merges in Mayer CPAs). Prager Metis ranked 72nd on Accounting Today’s 2016 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $50.78 million in annual revenue.

“Bringing the Cohen Greve & Company team on board is essential to our plans to expand our resources and further strengthen our reputation as the ‘go-to’ firm on Long Island,” said Prager Metis co-managing partner Glenn Friedman in a statement. “With their history and positive reputation on Long Island, this is a fantastic addition to our Long Island office.”

Cohen Greve & Company dates back to 1972 and provides a variety of tax and accounting services. Managing partner Tim Sherman has more than four decades of experience. “Prager Metis has a strong and growing presence on Long Island,” he said in a statement. “Several service lines we work in cross over and we look forward to expanding the Prager Metis book of business.”

Robert O. Mayer, managing partner of Prager Metis’s Long Island office, said the merger would enable the firm to serve its forensic and litigation clients better along with traditional tax and audit clients.
