PricewaterhouseCoopers Appoints New U.S. Chairman

PricewaterhouseCoopers has named Robert E. Moritz as the firm’s U.S. chairman and senior partner for a four-year term beginning July 1.

Moritz will succeed Dennis M. Nally, who will begin a four-year term as global chairman of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Network next month. Nally has served as U.S. chairman and senior partner since 2002.

Moritz has held several leadership positions at PwC. Since 2006, he has led the firm's assurance business, and he serves as a member of the U.S. firm's leadership team and the global assurance leadership team. He was previously managing partner of PwC's New York office and the metro region, where he led the firm's U.S. financial services practice. He first joined PwC in New York in 1985.

Moritz has principally focused on the banking, capital markets, insurance, investment management and real estate sectors. He also served on a three-year assignment with PwC's Japan firm, where he provided audit and advisory services to European and U.S.-based financial services organizations operating in Japan. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, and the New York and New Jersey State Societies of CPAs.

"I am honored to have been chosen by my partners to lead our firm through these challenging times,” he said in a statement. “I know that our firm's commitment to delivering outstanding service to our clients, as well as our commitments to our people, and to responsible leadership will be the keys for sustainable growth in this difficult period."

Nally praised the election of Moritz. "Bob Moritz has been an important part of the firm's U.S. leadership for several years, and has made invaluable contributions as our assurance leader,” he said.

Moritz is also joining the Center for Audit Quality’s governing board, which also issued a statement praising him. “The CAQ congratulates Bob Moritz on his election as U.S. chairman and senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP,” said CAQ executive director Cindy Fornelli. “We welcome Bob to the CAQ’s governing board and look forward to continuing our working relationship on issues important to investors, public company auditors and the capital markets. The CAQ applauds PwC’s outgoing U.S. chairman Dennis Nally for his contributions to our organization in his role as a member of the governing board and we wish him well in his new role as global chairman of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Network.”
