PwC partners with Monitaur to advance AI ethics

PwC Germany is developing educational materials and governance frameworks for artificial intelligence ethics, in partnership with AI governance firm Monitaur.

The companies formed their strategic partnership in response to European regulations such as the EU AI Act, as well as recent standards in Germany. However, beyond possible regulation, the partnership also formed in response to consumer demand for responsible and ethical AI, specifically in building trust and assurance across artificial intelligence projects and priorities.

"Building responsible and trustworthy AI programs is a complex challenge for enterprise companies," explained Hendrik Reese, a partner at PwC Germany, in a statement, "but one that is increasingly becoming a top priority in support of corporate strategies and in response to accelerated regulatory expectations."

PwC Germany chose to partner with Monitaur because it builds software aimed at operationalizing responsible and ethical governance in enterprises and leading technology companies. Its platform offers features such as governance policy creation, stakeholder collaboration, production monitoring and objective audits.

As artificial intelligence grows more sophisticated, more people have started thinking about the impacts on society and the technology's possible use for dystopian ends. This has led to companies developing frameworks to assess the ethical risk in AI development, such as one recently released by Fujitsu.
