Rea to merge in Tucker & Tucker

Rea & Associates Inc., a Top 100 Firm based in New Philadelphia, Ohio, plans to merge in Tucker & Tucker CPAs, a firm based in Cambridge, Ohio, effective May 1, 2019.

The combined firm will have more than 300 professionals. Financial terms were not disclosed. Total revenue for Rea & Associates in 2018 was $44,737,696, and the firm ranked No. 99 on Accounting Today’s most recent list of the Top 100 Firms. Rea currently has 331 total employees, 57 of whom are principals. The merger with Tucker & Tucker will add an extra six employees and one partner to Rea. The employees from Tucker & Tucker will move into Rea’s offices in Cambridge once the merger takes effect.

“We are excited for the opportunity to bring our two firms together,” said Rea & Associates CEO Don McIntosh in a statement. “This merger supports Rea’s strategic growth plan and Tucker & Tucker’s succession plan. Combining our firms will better position us to provide accounting, auditing, tax and business consulting services in Southeastern Ohio and beyond.”

Tucker & Tucker was established in 1984 by Jeffrey Tucker and his father, Ralph Tucker. The firm specializes in offering tax and business consulting services in Cambridge and nearby communities. Rea offers accounting, tax and assurance services, along with succession planning.

“We decided to move forward with the merger with Rea because their culture aligned so well with ours,” said the younger Tucker. “Together, we look forward to uniting our traditions of experience, service and stewardship. Moreover, I’m confident that our decision to unite will position us to provide all of our clients with an even greater experience."

In 2017, Rea expanded in Ohio with another M&A deal, with Walthall CPAs, a firm based in Cleveland that also had offices in Amherst, Mentor and Wooster.
