Rehmann founder dies at 92

Jacob "Jack" Rehmann, the namesake partner of Michigan-based Top 50 Firm Rehmann, died on Nov. 16 at the age of 92.

After college and a stint in the U.S. Navy, Rehmann joined what was then Wagar, Lunt & Oehring in the early 1960s; the firm, which had been founded in 1941, had 35 employees and three partners at the time.

After Rehmann was named a partner, the firm became Wagar, Lunt & Rehmann. He became managing partner by the end of the 1960s, and two mergers in 1979 doubled the firm and brought another new name, Rehmann, Robson, Osburn & Co.; it was rechristened simply Rehmann in 2009.

When Rehmann retired in 1992, the firm had 225 employees; it now has close to 900, and reported $170 million in revenue for 2021.

"The entire Rehmann family mourns the loss of Jack," said firm CEO Randy Rupp, in a statement. "At Rehmann, our values guide not only how we interact with clients and associates, but also how we interact with our local communities. Jack embodied our core value of 'Exhibit unwavering integrity' and we continue to honor him by living that value every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Connie, and family, and our deepest sympathies go out to them at this difficult time."

Stacie Kwaiser, the firm's COO and CEO-elect, added, "Even after his retirement, Jack stayed involved with the firm and was so proud of everything we've been able to achieve. As we take Rehmann into the future, we will always remember and be grateful to Jack for all he gave us and all he taught us. He will be deeply missed."
