RSM to acquire C Systems and Confluence Global

RSM US LLP is adding the U.S. and Canadian operations of C Systems, a consulting firm that specializes in nonprofit technology services and association management systems, and Confluence Global, a Salesforce consulting partner.

Under the deal, RSM will acquire substantially all the assets of C Systems LLC, C Systems Canada LLC and Confluence Global LLC, while also adding their leaders and staff. The deal is expected to close Sept. 1.

The deal is just the latest in a wave of accounting firm mergers and acquisitions in recent months as the economy bounces back despite the lingering pandemic. The combination promises to strengthen RSM’s presence in the nonprofit sector, expanding its iMIS Engagement Management System software team and the firm’s Salesforce practice. As part of its wider audit, tax and consulting services for nonprofit associations, RSM now provides software and implementation services for iMIS, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite and Nimble AMS, which is built on the Salesforce platform. C Systems, C Systems Canada and Confluence Global together have completed over 3,000 projects and 500 support engagements to help nonprofit associations develop and maintain connectivity to their members and constituents.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. RSM, based in Chicago, ranked No. 5 on Accounting Today’s 2021 list of the Top 100 Firms. The firm has annual revenue of $2.79 billion, 1,022 partners and 12,503 total employees. C Systems and Confluence Global don’t have partners, but C Systems CEO Lee Hornstein is joining RSM as a consulting principal, while Confluence Global CEO Craig Dellorso is also joining RSM as a consulting director. C Systems is based in Edison, New Jersey, and Confluence Global in Washington, D.C.

“The outstanding C Systems and Confluence Global teams will enhance our ability to help associations and nonprofit organizations leverage technology to meet the unique opportunities and challenges they face,” said RSM US consulting leader Brian Becker in a statement Thursday.

“Joining RSM is a crucial next step in our firm’s growth strategy and an exciting step forward for our people and our clients,” Hornstein said in a statement.

The deal comes after RSM’s acquisition last year of Mondaycall, a Salesforce consulting partner, and Rego Consulting’s ServiceNow workflow automation practice and its acquisition in 2019 of the assets of Tate & Tryon, an audit, tax, outsourced accounting and technology services firm in Washington, D.C.
