Sage Software Reveals Agreement with Timeline

Business software provider Sage Software Inc. has acquired non-exclusive rights to data mart patents from Timeline Inc., a Seattle-based business applications developer.

The data mart capabilities, which retrieve and analyze past data in a highly segmented version from a data warehouse, will be integrated into Sage's enterprise resource planning, accounting, customer relationship management and business intelligence products.

"Business intelligence and advanced reporting are among the top of our customer and partner priorities, and Sage has plans to develop offerings in this area across our entire product range," said Sage Software chief executive officer Ron Verni, in a statement. "This agreement gives us the ability to create highly automated Sage Business Intelligence products."

In addition to the data mart rights, Sage is developing a range of business intelligence products. Product development has begun at Sage to provide advanced analytics within Sage CRM SalesLogix, Sage's out-of-the-box CRM solution for midsized companies. Sage Intelligent Reporting, a packaged BI capability for small businesses, has just been released in the United Kingdom.
