SEC Taps Prezioso as General Counsel

Washington (April 5, 2002) The Securities and Exchange Commission named Giovanni P. Prezioso to serve as general counsel to the regulator, succeeding David Becker, who will leave the commission for private practice next month.

Prezioso, 44, is a partner in the Washington office of the international law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, where he specializes in securities law. He joined that firm in 1982 and became a partner 11 years ago.
