Service Offers Receipt Scanning for Accountants

Register now has introduced a service that scans in piles of receipts from an accountant’s various clients, archives the documents, and allows the accountant to view and manage the receipts via the Internet.

The Durham, N.C.-based company is expanding the mail-in receipt digitization service it has offered to small businesses in the past and providing it to accountants and bookkeepers. The Accounting Professional plan allows accountants to manage all of their clients’ receipt information from one multiple-account dashboard. Clients mail all their receipts in a prepaid envelope to Shoeboxed to be scanned. The data is then extracted and entered, automatically categorized, and securely archived online.

From their Shoeboxed accounts, financial professionals can then generate spreadsheets, PDF reports, and QuickBooks files by category as well as date range. Accountants can view, create, modify or cancel an unlimited number of accounts from one secure Web page. Clients also have their own unique login information to access their accounts without having access to the other accounts.
