SingerLewak expands into Torrance

In its sixth combination in just three years, Top 100 Firm SingerLewak LLP has brought on board Torrance, Calif.-based Kakimoto & Nagashima LLP.

Financial terms of the deal were not released. K&N will be known as “Kakimoto & Nagashima, a Division of SingerLewak LLP,” effective immediately, and will continue to operate out of its Torrance office with its current staff.

Formed in 2004 by the merger of Kakimoto & Co., which was founded in 1979, and Nagashima & Co., which was founded in 1992, K&N has four partners and approximately 45 staff. It is a middle-market, international specialty firm offering accounting and consulting services.

The combination with K&N will expand SingerLewak’s presence in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, and add depth to its international Asia services practice.

"As our practice and client profile continues to evolve locally and internationally, we continue to look for ways to deliver value. Combining with Kakimoto & Nagashima was a logical next step in accomplishing our mission to be one of the best accounting and consulting firms in the middle-market space,” SingerLewak managing partner Jim Pitrat said in a statement. “We will continue to build on our mission to be the firm of choice where family business owners, emerging companies, multinationals and public companies can turn to for innovative solutions for their growing businesses.”

"We are equally excited about the expanded opportunities this combination will provide our clients and the professionals of our firm,” added K&N managing partner Gerald Kakimoto. “Combining our operation with the resources and entrepreneurial spirit of SingerLewak allows our firm to scale our reach and range of services so that we may continue delivering superior value to our clients. For the past 38 years, Kakimoto & Nagashima and its predecessors have established valuable relationships with our clients and our community and we are proud to continue this legacy with SingerLewak. Together, we are certain our mutual commitment to excellence will bring value-added resources to our local and international clients on a much broader scale."

SingerLewak ranked No. 87 on Accounting Today’s 2017 list of the Top 100 Firms, with 2016 revenues of $44.76 million.
