Smith Elliott Kearns adds Hagerstown firm

Maryland-based Regional Leader Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. has added Flurie, Slick & Kinnett CPAs PA, effective Dec. 1.

FS&K partners Michael Flurie and Jack Slick will be joining SEK in its Hagerstown office, along with four professionals from the firm. SEK has 22 members and a total staff of 160.

Financial terms of the deal were not released. SEK reported 2016 revenues of $18.10 million.

Established in 1994 in Hagerstown by Flurie and Slick, FS&K specializes in accounting and income tax consulting for closely held businesses and individuals. SEK was founded in 1963, and offers financial statement preparation, auditing and assurance services, small business accounting, tax and payroll services, QuickBooks and Sage 50 training and consulting, tax preparation and planning, estate planning and administration, business valuations, retirement plan design consulting, and third-party administration.

“These seasoned accountants bring depth, experience and a culture fit to our already strong team of professionals in Maryland,” said SEK managing member John Schnitzer, in a statement. “We are happy to welcome them to the Hagerstown office.”

Added Flurie, “We see this as an exciting time for our employees, clients and community. We have an opportunity to enhance our services and continue relationships with the businesses and families we have served for many years.”
