Snow Job At Treasury

Washington (Feb. 3, 2003) -- The Sensate confirmed John Snow as Treasury secretary Friday, following unanimous approval by the Senate Finance Committee.

Snow, chairman of railroad giant CSX Corp., has been a supporter of corporate responsibility following last year's accounting scandals, and has proposed new reforms for executive compensation.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce president Thomas Donohue applauded the confirmation, saying it ensures the administration's economic recovery and job growth agenda has a strong advocate on Capitol Hill and throughout the nation.

"John Snow will be an effective voice for the President's economic program as laid out in the State of the Union address," said Donohue. "Snow recognizes that stimulating robust economic growth will provide more jobs, protect our standard of living, and pay for the domestic policy initiatives desired by Democrats and Republicans alike."
