QuickBooks 2007Intuit has released the 2007 editions of its QuickBooks line, with both a host of new accounting features, and a number of intriguing new services made possible by an alliance with search engine giant Google.
Among the accounting enhancements are a simpler set-up process; easier customization of forms; enhanced payroll and inventory functions; and a new "Dividing Date" function that makes it easier for you to go into a client's books to fix their old mistakes, while they continue to make new ones on a day-to-day basis.
The Google services include Google AdWord credits, for purchasing keyword search terms; the ability to create a free, updatable business listing in Google Maps; and the integration of Google search functions directly into QuickBooks. (For more, see article on page 22.)

Open source BPM
Business performance management solution vendor Adaptive Planning has introduced Adaptive Planning Express Edition, a BPM application that it claims is the first of its kind to be open-source. Users can download the app for free at www.sourceforge.net/projects/adaptiveplan. Like Adaptive Planning's subscription-based Corporate and Enterprise Editions, the Express Edition provides capabilities for collaborative budgeting, reporting and analysis, and has an intuitive spreadsheet-style interface.
