ACCOUNTING SUITE 3.03AccuFund has released the latest version of its Accounting Suite for nonprofits and government agencies, with enhancements in several areas. New drill-down capabilities have been added to the Accounts Payable module, along with the ability to pay vendors through electronic fund transfers. Bank notification of checks issued has been added to the AP and the Payroll modules, and the data import function in all modules has been improved to allow import templates to be saved for future use.
In addition, the company has released a new, low-cost add-on to the suite called AF Query, which allows view-only access to accounting data. Users can be restricted to particular modules, and can customize their own grid view of data to create instant reports.
Price: Accounting Suite - varies with components chosen. AF Query - $295 per user; volume discounts available.
Just like charity, risk management begins at home. Governance and compliance software vendor OpenPages has released OpenPages ORM, an operational risk management solution to help you put your own house in order, risk-wise. With an intuitive, browser-based interface, it lets organizations identify, measure, monitor and manage operational risk, and integrates all risk data - from risk and control self-assessments to loss events and key risk indicators. Executive dashboards and reports help users keep track of their company's exposure - and that's the first step to reducing it.
Price: Starts at $3,000 per user.
PAYABLES, NOT PAYROLL
ADP has been sending your employees checks for years - now they can send them to your vendors and creditors, as well. In partnership with Harbor Payments, the payroll giant is now offering an automated accounts payable solution that can streamline your entire AP process, from invoice capture, routing and approval to matching and check-printing or e-payment. Plus, the automated AP solution can help you manage your working capital and better maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (is there a product anywhere that doesn't have some relevance to SOX?) by posting expenses immediately. Next: ADP offers to run your entire company.
Price: Contact vendor.
ADP Employer Services
No one ever said SOX would be cheap. For small and midsized businesses in need of a cost-effective Section 302/404 compliance solution, the Blue Sage Group has introduced Torch Control. The internal control software is flexible, easy to use and implement, and rich in content. Incorporating the COSO Framework, it lets users update, evaluate, monitor, test and report on internal controls, with a built-in audit trail and a "change over time" feature to keep history intact while documenting new events.
In addition, Torch Control comes with a wide range of resources, including best practice examples, training materials, user guides and links to external resources, as well as pre-loaded templates, forms and documentation.
Price: Starts at $10,000.
