Indianapolis (Feb. 21, 2003) -- Steak n Shake Co., a 300-unit casual dining operator and franchiser based here, has appointed Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche as its auditor, replacing Ernst & Young.According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the restaurateur dismissed E&Y, which had served as its auditor since 1982, on Feb. 12. The company said it had no disagreements with E&Y on accounting matters.
Three months ago, Steak n Shake said it would restate fiscal 2001 and 2002 earnings to reflect changes in lease accounting.
