Durham, N.C. (Sept. 5, 2003) -- Outsourcing has evolved from simple cost management to a strategic tool, according to a new survey.
Business intelligence firm Cutting Edge Information found that 89 percent of companies said they view outsourcing as a vital part of their strategic planning to improve performance.
The company noted that in the past, companies hid outsourcing practice from the public to avoid the impression of corporate weakness or being charged with covering up extensive layoffs.
"Top outsourcers have thorough processes for making outsourcing vs. in-house decisions," said Cutting Edge Information president Jason Richardson.
"After carefully reviewing their own processes and outsourcing options, companies make the 'build or buy' decision."
