Tax Prep Chain Offers 50% Discount to Unemployed

Peoples Income Tax, a local tax prep chain in Virginia, plans to give a break to recently laid-off workers.

The company, which has 10 offices in the Richmond area, said that it would halve its tax prep fees for former employees of participating companies who were laid off during the past six months due to the recession.

The 50 percent discount is being offered through a group tax prep program that normally provides a 20 percent discount. It will be available through April 15. "It’s just one small way we can help local employees who have lost their jobs due to the economic recession," said Peoples Income Tax president and CEO Chuck McCabe (president) in a statement.

To qualify, clients must present, at the time of service, the unemployment discount certificate received from their former employers. Any taxpayer who was laid off during the past six months and has not received a discount coupon should ask their former employer to contact Peoples Income Tax at (804) 204-1040.
