Tax Talk Webcast to Focus on IRS Collections

The Internal Revenue Service will co-sponsor a free Webcast next week focusing on collection issues, including partial-payment installment agreements and offers in compromise.

The Tax Talk Today Webcast, "What's New with IRS Collection -- Partial-Payment Installment Agreements and Much More!" is scheduled for June 14 at 2 p.m. EDT. The hour-long Webcast will include comments from IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson, who will talk about the important role that practitioners play in relation to voluntary tax compliance.

"If you are a tax practitioner who represents clients involved in collection cases, you need to know about the recent legislative changes that affect how the IRS collects payments," said IRS area director Ellen Murphy.

Panelists include Brady R. Bennett, director of collection for the IRS Small Business and Self-Employed Division; Deborah Gascard Wolf, business requirements director of the Filing and Payment Compliance Modernization Project, of the Wage and Investment Division; Claudia Hill, EA, MBA, owner and principal of Tax Mam Inc.; and Robert E. Panoff, Esq., of Robert E. Panoff PA.

Panelists will highlight the recent legislation changes that affect IRS collection procedures. Other topics for discussion include the new partial-pay installment agreement, changes to the offers in compromise program, private debt collection updates, and power of attorney issues in relation to tax delinquent cases.

Viewers can register online at www.TaxTalkToday.tv. Tax professionals are eligible to receive one continuing education credit for viewing the Webcast.
