A new study revealed that TaxSlayer ranks highest in customer satisfaction among do-it-yourself tax services.
J.D. Power's inaugural U.S. Tax Preparation Satisfaction Survey found that the perceived value for price is the differentiating factor between top- and bottom- performing brands. This year, the overall satisfaction among filers landed at 705 on a 1,000-point scale.
TaxSlayer had a score of 712, outranking Intuit TurboTax (708), H&R Block (706), TaxAct (692) and Jackson Hewitt (681).

The study collected responses from March through June 2025 from 1,969 customers who filed annual tax returns in the past nine months using an online service, tax software or a hired professional. Overall customer satisfaction was measured based on seven categories: digital channels; level of trust; ease to prepare and file taxes; met tax preparation and filing needs; people; resolved problems or questions; and value for price.
