SAGE COMPLETES EMDEON BUY: The Sage Group plc, the U.K.-based parent to Sage Software, said that it completed its previously announced acquisition of Emdeon Practice Services, a vendor of software and services to physicians' practices. Terms of the deal, which was announced in August, were not disclosed.Within Sage Software, Practice Services, which has roughly 20,000 customers, will form the new Sage Software Healthcare Division.

Separately, Sage Software named veteran Geni Whitehouse to the post of vice president of strategy for the Sage Software Accountants Network US. Whitehouse succeeds Ed Cheeseman, who has left the company.

MOVARIS, PARSON CONSULTING TEAM IN MARKETING PACT: Financial management consultancy Parson Consulting and compliance solutions provider Movaris have entered into a partnership combining Parson's financial management expertise with Movaris' flagship OneClose application suite. As part of the pact, Parson will create a new Integrated Close Service Offering, a product that unifies reconciliations, compliance, close and reporting processes. The ICSO will bundle accounting and finance operations consulting with the automated OneClose product.

Additionally, the two companies will be hosting a series of multi-city executive seminars titled, "How to Automate and Unify the 'Last Mile' of Finance."

VERTICAL SOFTWARE NAMED RED WING PARTNER: Vertical Software Inc., a provider of software for agri-business, was named Top Partner for Red Wing Software for 2005/2006.

Vertical Software packages Red Wing's TurningPoint Accounting Inventory Suite with its own GrainTrac and AgPoint systems. GrainTrac improves accountability for grain deliveries, settlements and shipments, while AgPoint is used to manage feed blends, least-cost fertilizer blends, product bookings and prepayments.

CABINET NG SOFTWARE EARNS GOLD MEMBER STATUS: CNG-Books, a document management software for QuickBooks from Cabinet NG, has earned Gold Member status in the Intuit Developer Network Program. As part of qualifying for Gold Member status, CNG-Books had to first pass a formal QuickBooks Technical Review process by a third-party certification laboratory. The review verifies that third-party applications appropriately integrate, exchange data and are compatible with the QuickBooks platform.

ACCUFUND UNVEILS GRANTS MANAGEMENT MODULE: AccuFund, a provider of financial reporting and accounting software for nonprofit, municipal and government organizations, has made available its Grants Management module for the AccuFund Accounting Suite. The Grants Management module provides users with a single location to manage all their grant information, including financial data, reports, demographic data, notes and historical information. Users can access their grant information and track the status of a grant without looking in multiple locations.

The module offers various screens for financial status, basic grant information, tracking/reporting, and task management, all of which can be added or changed as needed. Screens include customizable drop-down lists and the ability to add fields and manage multiple entries, such as a record of each grant report submission.

SUREPREP SECURES $3 MILLION IN FUNDING: Tax outsourcing and workflow solutions provider SurePrep has secured $3 million in funding from software entrepreneur and SurePrep director Sheldon Razin. The funding will be used to launch an onshore tax outsourcing service and a proprietary new software application titled 1040Scan.

Scheduled for a January 2007 release, 1040Scan will enable accounting firms to scan data from client sources such as

W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, K-1s and brokerage statements directly into their tax software. For more information, visit to www.sureprep.com.
