DATA OVERSIGHT, IT SECURITY TOP TECH INITIATIVES FOR CPAS
New York -- Managing and retaining data, as well as securing the IT environment, topped the list of technology initiatives driven by North American CPAs, according to a joint survey by the American Institute of CPAs and Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).
These and other findings were part of the 2013 North American Top Technology Initiatives Survey, marking the first time the two associations have partnered on this survey. Also worth noting - IT security had led the list of initiatives for nine of the past 10 years.
Additional findings showed that CPAs are less confident in their organizations' ability to successfully address several underlying technology priorities than they were a year ago.
CCH SFS PARTNERS WITH EFILECABINET ON PORTAL
Kennesaw, Ga. -- CCH Small Firm Services and eFileCabinet are teaming up on offering PortalSafe, an integrated portal and file-sharing service aimed at tax and accounting professionals.
The first product of the two companies' new partnership is a Web-based portal that allows accounting and tax professionals and their clients to securely store and transmit important documents.
PortalSafe uses technology developed by eFileCabinet and integrates with CCH SFS's TaxWise and ATX tax software.
XERO ADDS TO PAYROLL WITH SUREPAYROLL DEAL
San Francisco -- Additional payroll options are coming to Xero users as the cloud accounting software maker signed a partnership with online payroll service SurePayroll.
The deal came just one week after Xero linked up with small-business-focused ZenPayroll, and nearly a year after its general ledger integration with the Run Powered by ADP cloud-based payroll platform for small-business owners.
Through the partnership with SurePayroll, small businesses and accounting professionals can manage their payroll and finances in the cloud, while providing Xero customers access to additional offerings including 401(k) plans, health insurance, workers compensation, and employee screening, among others.
