Stamford, Conn. (Aug. 17, 2004) -- Thomson Corp. agreed to acquire test provider Capstar from Educational Testing Service for undisclosed terms.
Thomson, which owns the publisher of WebCPA, said that it would merge Capstar with Prometric, its online testing arm.
Capstar develops and administers about 875,000 exams annually for corporations and governments and has produced some 10,000 hours of e-learning content and several hundred technical titles.
Thomson’s Prometric unit currently administers the online CPA examination in a partnership with the American Institute of CPAs and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
