Thomson Reuters Adds New Tax & Accounting Units

The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters has added two new business units, Business Compliance & Knowledge Solutions and Workflow & Service Solutions, led by Mark Schlageter and Brian Peccarelli, respectively, as the units’ new presidents.

The BC&KS business unit will provide tax and accounting research and guidance information, online media, CPA certification services, and governance, risk and compliance solutions to corporations, accounting firms and law firms around the world. The unit will mainly be based in New York City; Fort Worth, Texas; Toronto; Buenos Aires; Sydney; and Hyderabad, India.

The W&SS business will provide tax compliance, accounting, and practice management software solutions to corporate tax departments and accounting firms in markets around the world. It will have significant operations in Dallas; Ann Arbor, Mich.; London; Sydney; and Hyderabad.

Schlageter joined Thomson Reuters in 1997, and after stints in business development and operations, was named head of the company’s RIA Compliance software unit in 2000. In 2001, he was tasked to lead Tax & Accounting’s foray into online publishing, and was named general manager of the company’s RIA Information unit, where he led the development of the company’s Checkpoint product line. In January 2006, he was named president of the company’s Research & Guidance business, where he has since led the integration of the company’s PPC and RIA Information businesses.

Peccarelli joined Thomson Reuters in 1984 as a product accountant, and has since held roles as director of client development, vice president of the corporate services market, and general manager for RIA Compliance. In January 2006, he was named president of the company’s U.S. corporate software business.
