Thomson Reuters Debuts Add-On Search Tool to Checkpoint

Thomson Reuters has introduced a new search feature, Answer Path from Checkpoint, meant to help tax professionals find answers in the Checkpoint software faster.

Checkpoint is an intelligence resource for tax professionals, so the search feature is a key component to its functionality. Answer Path provides a shortcut to commonly searched federal tax topics. As a user types, the tool will display Quick Tax Amounts and Orientation Documents. Quick Tax Amounts provide answers to questions a user might type in. Orientation Documents provide a plain English snapshot of a topic with links to the applicable code sections, and guide the user to more in-depth coverage in their subscription as well as practice aids and instructions to IRS forms.

Initially, Answer Path will focus on topics related to preparing and filing federal individual income tax returns, such as computations, payments, exemptions, deductions and adjustments. The tool is only available to subscribers of certain Checkpoint products.

“Keeping up with changes and navigating the complexity of the tax law is critical to our customers’ tax preparation, planning and advisory business,” said Colleen Dillon, director of the tax practitioner segment with the Thomson Reuters tax and accounting business, in a statement. “Answer Path empowers tax professionals to be confident in their research – regardless of their expertise level.”
