AICPA SELECTS TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

The American Institute of CPAs has announced that five students transitioning from community colleges to four-year universities have been awarded the first-ever AICPA Foundation Two-Year Transfer Scholarships. The students have earned an Associate's degree in business, accounting, finance or economics with a declared intent to major in accounting at a four-year college or university; they will receive $1,000 toward their tuition for the 2014-2015 school year.

The scholarship recipients are:

  • Lisa Dimery (University of Colorado).
  • Kaitlyn Fox (University of Alabama).
  • Gabriel Rollano (University of South Florida).
  • Simon Valdez (University of Texas).
  • Matthew Warr (University of Wyoming).

The five AICPA scholarship recipients will become part of the AICPA Legacy Scholars program, which was established in 2011. The program awards recipients a one-year AICPA Legacy Scholarship and uses service work to help them develop the soft skills needed to maintain a successful career.
