Washington (July 11, 2003) -- Susan C. Schwab, currently dean of the University of Maryland School of Public Affairs, will be nominated by President George W. Bush to become deputy Treasury secretary -- the second-highest post at the department behind Treasury secretary John Snow.

Schwab’s appointment, pending confirmation by the Senate, would fill the void left by Kenneth Dam, who resigned in February.
