UH West O'ahu holds Student Accounting Night

The University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu held its third annual Student Accounting Night on Oct. 21, 2019, in Kapolei, Hawaii. The event brought together 62 local accounting professionals and 126 students for networking opportunities and career advice.

Accounting professionals representing various industries — including hospitality, CPA firms, government, insurance and private companies — were in attendance to share their stories of working in the profession, what courses can best prepare students for accounting careers, and how to meet the qualifications of modern accounting positions.

Various scholarships were also awarded to accounting students who will be graduating this fall.

“Student Accounting Night opens up opportunities to us students to get scholarships, internships and eventually to work in the accounting field,” stated Gladys Cacay, president of the Accounting Club at UH West Oʻahu. “Professionals from different CPA firms have started to notice and give attention to UH West Oʻahu accounting students. The interactions between all students and professionals were amazing. This was one of the best events so far, and I believe there is more to come for UH West Oʻahu accounting students.”
