UHY Advisors Appoints Co-CEOs

UHY Advisors has named Tony Frabotta and Rick Stein as co-CEOs, replacing Steve Samek, who resigned from the firm last week.

In addition to sharing the CEO spot, Frabotta and Stein will also continue in their roles as board members representing the Michigan and Texas practices, respectively. "We wish Steve all the best in his new endeavors," said Stein in a statement. "He has been an innovative leader during his tenure and I have enjoyed our relationship on both a professional and personal level."

"Steve arguably was the Bill Gates of the accounting industry," said Allan Koltin, president and CEO of the consultancy PDI Global. "He built an incredible firm at Andersen and is as much a visionary as I've met in the profession."

Frabotta and Stein were running the firm when they brought in Samek as a consultant about three years ago and then offered him the CEO position about a year later. Samek was named CEO and president of UHY Advisors in January 2006.

"He accomplished what he set out to achieve, to bring UHY together as a national firm and give them a vision and direction about what a middle-market national accounting firm is all about," said Koltin.

He believes that now that Samek has accomplished that goal, he passed the baton back to Frabotta and Stein. Frabotta and Stein did not respond to requests for comment.
