Vendor Spotlight: Infinite Group Inc.

In the continuously evolving digital landscape, the importance of cybersecurity remains front and center. Infinite Group Inc. (IGI) positions itself in this sphere, offering a blend of cybersecurity technology and services aimed at addressing the complexities of modern cyber threats. Among their diversified offerings, IGI has developed a product called Nodeware, designed for continuous vulnerability management. This tool assists users by identifying and ranking potential vulnerabilities across their digital assets, providing a comprehensive overview of areas requiring attention.

Founded on a legacy of information security, particularly in collaborations with the federal government, IGI has grown over the past two decades from its base in Pittsford, NY. Today, it operates with a 52-member team that serves a global clientele. The firm's commitment to cybersecurity is underscored by its array of services and collaborations with various sectors, including accounting firms. Those interested in delving deeper into IGI's offerings can explore their two dedicated websites, one focusing on consulting services and the other highlighting their Nodeware product.

Andrew Hoyen, president and CEO of IGI, discussed what's been happening at his company and its plans for the future.

Andrew Hoyen

How would you best describe what your company does?

Hoyen: Infinite Group Inc. (IGI) is a cybersecurity technology and services innovator that is committed to helping our customers and partners solve complex challenges related to safeguarding themselves against cyber threats.

What is in your product line, and what is your flagship product?

Hoyen: IGI provides a range of cybersecurity services, including penetration testing and virtual CISO (vCISO), and a flagship product, Nodeware. This continuous vulnerability management solution is currently making significant waves in the market, experiencing increased adoption and rapid expansion.

What was the last big initiative or project your company completed?

Hoyen: The Nodeware team was selected as one of three finalists in the ConnectWise 2023 PitchIT Accelerator Program, a 16-week incubator program and 'Shark Tank'-like pitch competition, which culminates in a final pitch scheduled for early November.

In addition, we were invited to be part of ConnectWise's Invent Program, which enables us to collaborate with ConnectWise to develop seamless integrations that bring Nodeware into the ConnectWise ecosystem. These integrations enhance MSP workflows and overall efficiency for the 35k+ MSPs who use the ConnectWise platform for IT management.

We also continue to build partnerships and integrate Nodeware into other platforms, making it easy for customers to consume and leverage the power of our solution.

What is the most exciting new thing you're working on?

Hoyen: We recently announced that we are adding automated patching and remediation to Nodeware in Q4. Remediating vulnerabilities is foundational in maintaining a strong cybersecurity posture, and Nodeware is committed to simplifying this process.

One key feature in the upcoming release is the ability to patch operating systems, addressing security gaps in a system by bringing them up to date. With this feature, Nodeware will be able to evaluate the status of software updates on an asset/device, correlate any identified vulnerabilities to the corresponding available patches, and carry out the remediation process automatically, including conducting a scan after the updates have been applied. This functionality will help users shorten the window between discovery and remediation and proactively safeguard their assets, while saving them time and internal resources.

What differentiates your company from others similar to it? What makes you different? Unique, even?

Hoyen: At IGI, our distinctiveness in the cybersecurity space lies in our unwavering commitment to efficiency, effectiveness, and tailored solutions. We pride ourselves on delivering lightweight, user-friendly solutions that are both cost-efficient and highly effective in helping safeguard organizations. We prioritize a proactive cybersecurity approach and exceptional customer support to ensure our clients have the tools and guidance they need to fortify their defenses effectively.

What is the biggest challenge facing companies like yours right now? How do you work to address it?

Hoyen: The biggest challenge is getting exposure and acceptance in a competitive market where there are a multitude of offerings. To address this, we must be able to differentiate ourselves and continue to drive awareness, while sharing our innovation with the market.

If your company has been experimenting with generative AI, how have you incorporated it into your business?

Hoyen: We have partnered with AWS to develop and hone the generative AI aspects within our cloud solutions. This enables us to provide more comprehensive guidance and insights around vulnerabilities for both Nodeware and our penetration testing offerings. Furthermore, we are utilizing this technology to enhance customer support and optimize our knowledge base, creating a more enriched customer experience.

If you could telepathically transmit one (non-marketing or sales) sentence into the head of every accountant in the world, what would that sentence be?

Hoyen: You can't protect what you don't know.
