Vertex Exec Joins IRS Advisory Committee

Terrance “T.J.” Turner, director of income tax research at corporate income tax software developer Vertex, has been appointed to the IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee.

Turner’s role in the committee will call for him to participate in public forums on electronic tax administration as well as contribute to a report that is sent every year by the committee to Congress.

The ETAAC provides an organized forum for discussion of electronic tax administration issues and supports the goal of paperless filing between tax professionals and the IRS. Turner was appointed with six additional new members and a chairman on November 23 (see IRS Picks ETAAC Members).

Turner joined Vertex in 1999 and manages a staff of tax and technology professionals. He is responsible for the development of international, federal, state and local income tax compliance and tax accounting and e-file solutions.

A former auditor for the State of Ohio, Tuner has over 10 years of experience working in the tax technology industry, where he has led several initiatives to reduce the burden of tax departments managing data for tax compliance and accounting. He is a fellow at the American Academy of Financial Management and a Certified International Tax Analyst.
