Southwest regional firm Weaver and Tidwell LLP has strengthened its construction niche practice with the merger of Dallas-based CPA firm Brehm & Co. LLP.

"The construction industry in North Texas is growing," said W.M. "Mack" Lawhon, Weaver and Tidwell's managing partner. "The strategy of combining our resources and existing capabilities with Brehm & Co.'s experience and client base will create tremendous synergy."

Weaver and Tidwell's existing construction industry practice group grew 19 percent during the previous 12 months.

Brehm & Co.'s 11 employees will relocate from their North Dallas location to Weaver and Tidwell's Dallas office. Founder Marie Brehm is joining Weaver and Tidwell as a partner.

Brehm & Co.'s client base includes construction companies, nonprofit organizations, medical service companies, manufacturers and distributors.

In addition to audit, accounting and tax services, Weaver and Tidwell provides assurance, risk assessment, Sarbanes-Oxley, state and local tax, business valuation, estate planning/wealth transfer, information technology, litigation support, profit enhancement, and property tax services. The firm also offers employee benefits and financial planning services through its two affiliates, WT Benefits LLC and Weaver and Tidwell Financial Advisors Ltd.
