James Kinney, partner-in-charge of the financial services group at Weiser LLP, was recently elected chairman of the board of the Fair Media Council, an organization that keeps its members educated about current trends and happenings in the local media.

Kinney was elevated to the chairman post in April as a result of many years of active service, including involvement as a board member. During the one-year term, he will be responsible for overseeing the board, providing guidance to the executive director, and promoting the council to the public.

The Long Island-based organization also acts as a medium through which its members can gain access to the local media to convey branding and marketing plans, corporate image and public relations strategy. The board of the Fair Media Council includes members of the Long Island business community.

“I look forward to taking the Fair Media Council to the next level during its thirtieth year anniversary,” said Kinney in a statement. “My goal is to continue the tradition of advocating the highest quality local news and enhancing the council’s educational programs designed to demonstrate to both the business community and the public how to get more from their local media experience.”
