Witt Mares and PKF Mid-Atlantic Announce Merger

Newport News, Va. (Aug. 3, 2004) — Witt Mares, one of the largest CPA firms in Virginia, has merged with regional accounting and consulting firm Pannell Kerr Forster Mid-Atlantic PC, effective Aug. 1.

The union gives Witt Mares a total of 26 partners, 80 professionals and more than 200 employees in eight locations —  Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, Smithfield, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and Fairfax.

The Fairfax office will operate under the brand PKF Witt Mares. Kevin Reilly, CPA, J.D., will continue as PKF Witt Mares' partner-in-charge in Fairfax.

The marriage also gives Witt Mares an entrée into the hotel, restaurant and  hospitality client niche, as PKF Mid-Atlantic has over 100 engagements in that arena.

"The depth of service we can now bring to hospitality clients will rival our other core niches of financial institutions, construction and health-care services,” said Witt Mares chief executive Alan Witt.
