Xero has hired CPA and accounting technology veteran Amy Vetter to the newly created position of global vice president of education, where she will lead the company’s efforts on internal and external training.
Vetter will report directly to Xero’s chief revenue officer, Stuart McLean who is based in Australia. She will remain in Ohio and work remotely, as well as out of the U.S. headquarters in San Francisco.
Vetter most recently served as the senior CPA programs leader at Intacct. During her tenure, she was the sales and marketing leader for Intacct’s accountant channel and program manager for the Intacct Accountant Program (IAP). She also managed internal and external sales and account management teams and created program benefits, training and certification courses for IAP members.
While the specifics of her new position were still unclear, Vetter was “excited” to move into a role where she was directly involved in training and education.
“We were in talks over time about this role, but nothing specifically prompted it other than my passion is education and I really think it’s a perfect fit for me,” said Vetter. “I want to take training to a new level; I really see the whole environment as positive for accountants and we want to expand how accountants are trained. Overall, the goal is to create consistency among the countries [where Xero is] and scale bigger.”
Vetter said she was positive about her time at Intacct and her work there over the past few years.
“It was a hard decision because I worked well with Intacct to get their message out there, but this is a very exciting opportunity for me,” she added. “Right now there’s no assumption of what software you will be on, you will find what works for your needs and it may not be just one if you are at an accounting firm. The whole profession is changing with how they are delivering work and it’s all about finding what’s right for your clients and that’s where training becomes so important.”
