Ziegelbauer Tapped to Head Grant Thornton's Financial Institutions Practice

Chicago (Aug. 22, 2003) -- Grant Thornton has named John Ziegelbauer to head its financial institutions industry practice as partner-in-charge.

Ziegelbauer, who is based in Washington, D.C., will oversee Grant Thornton’s financial institutions practice, which focuses on community bank, credit union, mortgage bank, and specialty finance area customers.

Ziegelbauer succeeds Paul Pustorino, who stepped down to focus on the rapidly growing financial institutions practice in the Northeast. Pustorino will continue as a Boston assurance partner and member of the national financial institutions practice leadership team.

“John is a logical choice for practice leader,” says Pustorino. “He understands the firm’s focus on client-centric service, knows bank tax issues, and he has a strong appreciation of how to use business risk services to help our clients achieve their goals.”

Ziegelbauer has been an active public accountant for more than 16 years. Most recently, he served as Grant Thornton’s director of financial institutions tax services.

"I am excited about leading this dynamic and growing financial institutions practice. And I look forward to continuing my relationship with our financial institution clients to provide them the best possible Grant Thornton experience," Ziegelbauer said in a statement.
