AICPA announces application period for 2016 Leadership Academy in Durham, N.C.

The AICPA announced on Thursday that the application period for the 2016 Leadership Academy is now open. Now in its eighth year, the 2016 Leadership Academy will be held in Durham, NC from October 2 - 6 later this year.

Over the four-day course, candidates will be able participate in interactive sessions designed to teach strategic planning and personal success skills – including communication and delegation - for handling complex management challenges.

“The Leadership Academy is a great example of the AICPA's commitment to ensuring a prosperous future for our profession,” said Angela Ho, vice president & controller, Northfield Bank and a 2015 Leadership Academy Graduate, in a statement. “It was inspiring to participate in a program with like-minded young CPAs who are passionate about their personal and professional development, and eager to become stewards of our profession. The Leadership Academy strengthened my professional network and allowed me to cultivate friendships that will be invaluable in the coming years.”

The Leadership Academy is open to licensed CPAs who are voting members of the AICPA, have more than three years of experience, and are between the ages of 25 and 35. As of 2016, more than 200 CPAs have participated in the Leadership Academy.

To apply, candidates are asked to submit their resume, licensure information, professional volunteer activities, awards/honors, and an essay explaining why participating in the Leadership Academy would be personally important to them. The application deadline is May 31, 2016.
